The work includes but is not limited to the upgrade of the electrical and fire alarm systems, furnishing and installing an emergency generator plant, power monitoring system, emergency switchboards and a computerized power management system. The pre-bid conference is mandatory and will be held on 11-24-09 from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon, at 126 Stuyvesant Place, Central Jury Room, Staten Island, which is across the street from 18 Richmond Terrace. A site walk through will be held immediately after the pre-bid meeting. You will walk through metal detectors to enter the buildings.
Bid packages must be obtained in person between the hours of 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the DCAS Office of Contracts, 1 Centre Street, 18th Floor, Room 1860, NYC 10007. The bid package deposit is $35 per set. Only company checks or money orders are accepted, and are made payable to DCAS. No cash is accepted. The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Bureau of Operations, is soliciting bids from Vendors to furnish all labor and materials necessary and required to provide Electrical Services in various offices owned and operated by the Department within the five (5) boroughs of New York City.
The term of the proposed contract resulting from the above-mentioned IFB is five (5) years, with no option to renew, and is set to take effect on or about 7/1/2010.
The amount of the winning bid determines the value of the contract.

In late July, Governor Paterson signed into law Chapter 270 Laws of 2009, which increases employers’ legal obligations to notify newly hired employees of their wage rates. Prior law required that an employer must notify an employee at the time of hire of the rate of pay and of the regular pay date. The new law, which amends Section 195 of the Labor Law, provides that the notice be in writing, that the employee return a written acknowledgement of the receipt of such notice, and that the notice include, where applicable, the overtime rate of pay. The written notice and acknowledgement is required to conform to requirements established by the Commissioner of Labor with regard to content and form.
Please be advised that the NYS Department of Labor has recently posted on its website the notice and acknowledgement form employers should use to comply with this new law. NYSDOL has also posted a “Fact Sheet” on its website regarding this new law.
